Will OpenAI, Anthropic or Google officially admit a new AI model quality degradation by March 31, 2027?
$25,471 Vol. 143d 9h left
Description Users often accuse AI labs of "nerfing" models. Anthropic admitted quality drops in postmortems in Sept 2025 and on April 23, 2026. New complaints about Claude Opus 5.5 (released Sept 22, 2026) peaked Nov 4–6, 2026; Anthropic had not responded as of Nov 7.
- This event resolves YES if, between Nov 9, 2026 00:00 UTC and Mar 31, 2027 11:59 PM ET (America/New_York; Apr 1, 2027 03:59 UTC), OpenAI, Anthropic or Google (incl. DeepMind) publishes on an official channel a statement clearly saying output quality, accuracy, reasoning or capability dropped for one of its generally available models or products (e.g. ChatGPT, Codex, Claude, Claude Code, Gemini, or their APIs, incl. on Bedrock/Vertex/Azure).
- This event resolves NO if no such statement is published by the deadline.
- 1. Specificity: Official channels = company blogs, postmortems, status pages, official changelogs/release notes, official social accounts. Any cause counts (bugs, hardware, quantization, routing, default effort/settings, system prompts). Hedged admissions count (e.g. "some requests received lower-quality responses"). Intended product changes count only if the company says they reduced quality/capability.
- 2. Exclusion: Generic "degraded performance/service", outages, latency, rate limits or errors do not count. Denials (e.g. "we never intentionally degrade models") do not count. Safety/tone changes don't count unless described as reducing quality. Employee posts (incl. GitHub replies) don't count unless endorsed by an official channel. Admissions before Nov 9, 2026 and model retirements don't count.
- 3. Source Hierarchy: Official company channels priority. Reuters, The Verge, TechCrunch, VentureBeat secondary, only when reporting an attributable official statement.
- 4. Timing: Post-deadline statements resolve NO.
- 5. Cancellation Rule: Edited or deleted statements still count based on first publication.
