DescriptionBIP-360 (P2MR, quantum-resistant address type) was merged into Bitcoin's BIP repository on February 11, 2026, with a confirmed new commit as recently as June 19, 2026. Its companion BIP-361 ("Legacy Signature Sunset," by Jameson Lopp et al.) was published April 14, 2026, proposing phased freezing of quantum-vulnerable Bitcoin addresses. CZ reignited the quantum freeze debate on June 18, 2026, and the White House teased a quantum computing push on June 22, 2026.
Each outcome resolves YES if any new commit, merged PR, or officially opened issue appears in the bitcoin/bips or bitcoin/bitcoin GitHub repositories specifically referencing that BIP on or before July 20, 2026 23:59 UTC. Resolves NO if no such GitHub activity occurs.
1. Specificity: Must be a new commit, merged PR, or officially opened issue in bitcoin/bips or bitcoin/bitcoin referencing BIP-360 or BIP-361 respectively.
2. Exclusion: Social media posts, podcasts, articles, third-party repositories, and mailing list posts do NOT count toward resolution.
3. Source Hierarchy: github.com/bitcoin/bips (primary) and github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin (primary). Resolution determined solely by GitHub activity.
4. Timing: Activity must occur by July 20, 2026 23:59 UTC. Post-deadline activity resolves NO.
5. Cancellation Rule: GitHub activity opened then closed/reverted before deadline still counts YES based on first opening date.
